Artigo Grain flooring in San Gerardo Hospital, Milan
Just north of Milan, San Gerardo in the city of Monza is more than a Hospital: it is an institution.
Founded in 1174 as a shelter for the poor, it has since represented a beacon of care and excellence for a densely-populated area. Today it also hosts the faculty of Medicine and Surgery of the University of Milan.
A new architectural wing has been added recently to the facility: named the Palazzina Accoglienza (Welcoming Building). It is a 4-floor clinic with accomodation for 83 outpatients. The clinic also featurs a 350-seater conference hall and a shopping center 'the Palazzina' which separates the day-hospital activities and the long-stay wards.
Artigo Rubber flooring has provided the slip resistant hard wearing rubber flooring for the new Palazzina from their GRAIN collection which is available in a choice of 10 rich colours. They provided 25.000 sqm of tiles and rolls, as well as 14.000 sqm of wall coverings.
For Artigo it is a return visit. In the 1970s they contributed more than 30.000 sqm of rubber flooring for the main hospital buildings and, with were proud to find some of the original flooring still in place - and in very good conditions, 40 years later!
