Granada School of Architecture
“Architecture is achieved as an expression of the art of building in the service of human beings and therefore is an exercise of rational and emotional intelligence. It is an act of will, an expression of the search for truth”. These are words spoken by Victor López Cotelo talking about his design for the new School of Architecture in Granada which was awarded the Spanish Architecture prize in 2015. “A fusion of rationality and emotion”.
The former Military Hospital occupies an entire city block in the heart of historic Granada and has a 500 year pedigree. The courtyards, arcades, typical thick brick walls and internal structures have been carefully restored, reconstructed and adapted for their new functions.
Artigo's contribution to this project is solid-color Nd/Uni rubber flooring in a custom-made “azul” shade, based on Artigo Zeus Z635 background color. The result is a unique blend of a traditional spanish palette with a modern, sleek, quasi minimalist approach.
